Call for Papers - ICM Workshop on Web Caching

Warsaw, Poland, 30 September - 1 October 1996


Purpose of the workshop

The workshop is a forum to: The workshop program will include presentations of papers, as well as informal demonstrations and progress sessions.

Workshop topics

The focus is on recent development in hierarchical caching systems. Workshop topics include, but are not limited to:

Web coherence
Impact of HTTP 1.1
Persistent connections between caches
Source selection algorithms
Discovering/announcing caches
Scaling issues
Experiences from national caching services
International caching hierarchy

Workshop format

The workshop will include presentations of papers followed by discussion. Authors will be given a 45 minutes time slot. Some, less formal, progress sessions are also planned. Live software demonstrations are possible, contact the organizers for more information.

Guidelines for papers

We are accepting submissions only electronically, via email. Submitted papers and presentation slides should be in form suitable for electronic publication (HTML, Postscript or LaTeX source). Any HTML documents should be tar compressed and uuencoded. All submissions should be sent to webcache@icm.edu.pl.

Papers must be full length versions, and not just abstracts, but generally should not exceed 12 pages.

Receipt of submission will be acknowledged by return email within one week. If you do not receive an acknowledgment within this time please contact the the workshop secretary.

Place

The workshop activities will be held at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, Warsaw University, Poland. Participants will be housed in the University's Guest House. Bus and taxi transportation will be available from the airport to workshop accommodations.

Visas

It is the responsibility of participants to obtain any appropriate visas (including transit visas) needed to attend the workshop.

Number of participants

To enable effective and constructive discussions, the number of participants is limited to 30. Admission is based on the acceptance of the submitted materials.
